Jesus teaches His followers the importance of a spiritual purification process. Jesus understood that the world did not need more religious people putting on a show of what it looks like to "do the right thing", but people who were devoted followers of Him who recognized that their hearts are full of sin that needs to be purified and filtered out His grace and mercy.
